Pinot Retro (Cont.)

The second flight: by this time Ian from Avoca Hotel and David Jones from Dalwhinnie had turned up and added to the end of the lineup.

Note the introduction of Hundred Tree Hill label in 1997. The standouts to date were Redbank Winery 1992 Pinot. The 1990 Huw Hamilton showed a slight taint on the night but was fabulous for the next two days. Both 1997's were excellent

The Private Bin wines were precursors to the Sally's Hill range, being Estate grown varietals.

The 2008 Mercurey on right was made by intern Andrea Cibin at his mother's Estate and all agreed it was good but way too young.

All the wines so far were getting better, opening up as we knocked off bangers from Casa Iberica, The British Butcher, Istra and many others.

Pinot Noir Retrospective Tasting

Having two Burgundian interns this vintage we decided to have a mid-vintage Pinot vertical and sausage taste off.

Started off with four Burgundy style Chardonnays to wet the whistle with Marie Girard's home wine J M Boillot Puligny-Montrachet and Maries delicious Parmesan Twists.

Some guest entries.

Then down to business with the first flight:
