New BBQ

Knowing that Meister Chef Achim Herterich needs space to cook 80 racks of lamb for the Seductions Lunch on Saturday I thought a new BBQ was in order. 0.85 square metres of cooking area wood fired. Mount Gambier stone.

Pre-Birthday dinner

Some good friends at Minh Tanh 2 in Little Saigon, Victoria St. Richmond, Melbourne for a nice dinner. Tommy Leung brought a 2001 Sally's Paddock but I topped him with a magnum of 2000. A 1997 Jim Barry Riesling was unfortunately oxidised. Probably a duff cork.

OH Dear!

After this we went to a Tapas Bar for more drinks. Thankfully there are no photos of that.

Tristan

Did no good with the gee-gees, but won a six pack of Three Sheets Ale in the raffle. The Lord Nelson is the best Brewery Pub in Australia. Maybe the World! Here with Tristan Hayden, son of the incomparable Blair.

Inwine Reps

Michael, Peter (Zoe) and Nigel hopping into it. Had a magnum of 1992 Sally's Paddock and some old Sally's Hill Cabernets. Gave Blair a 1986 Redbank Cabernet Magnum for his table. A very fine old wine, still sound but lacking a little after the middle palate now.

The happy crew at the Sally's Paddock, Flying Pig deli Stand. We served Jamon Serano with Spanish Anchovies and Redbank olives, then Hot Smoked Pyrenees Lamb on a Turkish Toddler roll with Redbank olive oil and Sally's Peach Relish. A selection of Calendar cheeses. Sally's Italian Chocolate Torte with whipped cream and Almond Biscotti. Tunisian Orange cake with Cinnamon sauce. Wines were 2007 Sally's Paddock, Sally's Hill Chardonnay, Shiraz and Pinot Noir. Fabulous!
